Dark Blue Something: Collage Edition
And a Currently List! With a new book I just couldn’t put down.
Today’s Color
Behind the Page
My book is getting thick. It’s getting very difficult to make intricate pages on the left hand side of my notebook. So I opted to put my thin Currently List over on the left, knowing it would stick to the notebook a lot better than a bunch of little random bits.
I know I’ve said this throughout the month — but I’m really enjoying these collage pages. I’m excited to make at least one purple one this upcoming week, and to finish out with black and white over the weekend.
And — I really can’t wait until July when I can start making some multi-color collage pages in my notebooks.
What have been your favorite pages to make throughout this Color Month?
Technique of the Day
Because of the ways the days landed — blue was on a weekend (so I made a single page) and dark blue was the color that was getting the double page spread. I didn’t have a ton of dark blue bits, and the ones that I really liked didn’t fill up the whole page. And that wasn’t a problem, I just needed to figure out how I was gonna fill in some of that white space.
For a lot of my other collage pages, I’ve been adding tiny little stickers to use up that space, but I didn’t have anything dark blue in terms of little stickers. Everything was either a light or royal blue, and it didn’t look right on the page. So I opted for a tiny star stamp and some dark blue ink. I’m happy with the way the page turned out and I’m glad that I’ve got a collection of tiny stamps to use on days like this.
Reflections & Insights
That tiny little quote card (the one that matches the others throughout the book) is a little more royal and light blue than a darker blue. But I really wanted to use that on my blue collage pages and this was my blue collage page.
One of the things that I’ve had the most fun with throughout this Color Month process is just playing with the idea of a color each day. Pulling in whatever works on the page, as long as I have the original color in mind. And most of my pages are super monochromatic — but there are definitely a few pages with some pops of other colors; and I think the whole notebook (and project) is better for it.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
I started reading Fourth Wing on Friday and I finished it on Sunday evening. I’m so into it. I absolutely love fantasy, and new adult — so this was right on point for me. I can’t wait to start diving into the sequel this evening! If any of you want to talk Fourth Wing, I’ll be happy to dive in as soon as I finish up Book #2!
