Today is all about the Thursday3 Selfie Challenge.
Thursday3 is my second most created Daily Page (first place belongs to Currently List, which we talked about last lesson) in the more than 1000+ pages I’ve created over the last few years.
This project was born as the Thursday3 selfie challenge, and started out 10+ years ago when I was trying to figure out a way to get more photos of myself in my scrapbooks. It was my last semester of college, and I was trying to capture my time on campus as well.
I'm one of those people that needs to schedule things on the calendar in order to get them done. So I scheduled a time each week to take a photo of myself. I also took the time to jot down three things to go along with the snapshot.
I started sharing on Instagram for accountability, and tagged some friends to play along, and now we've got over 25k #Thursday3 posts over there. And while I’m not on social media much these days (you’ll find me here with the newsletter and over at the Awesome Ladies Project for community), I still love doing a Thursday3 selfie and page.
The way that I translate that to my Daily Pages can vary in a few different ways:
The most common way is for me to grab a picture of myself (usually a Thursday3 from a previous week already printed) and then also jot down three things going on in my right now life.
Sometimes I'll just use a photo of myself and not write out three things.
Sometimes I'll skip the photo and I'll just write out three things that are going on in my right now life
It's a fun way to mix and match different parts of the challenge and come out with unique pages each time.
Three reasons why creating #Thursday3 in your Daily Pages notebook is valuable:
1. It's an Easy Way to Start Scrapbooking Pictures of Yourself
Daily Pages is a safe space for you to create. These little notebooks are not the major scrapbooks that you put out on the shelves for everyone to browse through. They are the place where you get to practice and play. That makes them the best place for you to start telling stories and playing with themes and subjects (like photos of yourself) that might be a little bit uncomfortable at first.
2. A Great Way to Quickly Note the Right Now
Days and weeks pass us by so fast, it's nice to have a little reminder to stop and jot down what's going on right now. Especially in a way that's simple and not asking too much of you. With Thursday3 you can talk about the easy things, the hard things, the silly things, or literally anything that's popping into your head right now. These are the things that we're just not going to remember next week or the week after.
3. A Fun Community Project to be a Part Of
Yesterday I mentioned that Currently List is a fun community project to be a part of. Thursday3 is even more so -- especially when you're creating in your Daily Pages. There is something really awesome about sharing a Daily Page when you're the subject. The Awesome Ladies just love seeing you in your pages and want to tell you how awesome you and your creations are, come join us in my free community and share your pages with us!

Lesson Four Homework: Create a Thursday3 style page in your Daily Pages notebook. Either a selfie and three right now things, or just a selfie, or just three right now things -- whichever suits you best.
Next Lesson: we'll finish up the challenge by creating a page in your own personal style and setting you off on your own Daily Pages journey.
Quick Q! Do you get your selfies printed online, or locally, or at home…my colour printer is useless and the ink probably all dried up anyway!
