Daily Pages 12/29/23: Strips & Silkscreen
Warm colors for the end of the year
Behind the Page
I wasn’t sure what I wanted to make when I got to my table this morning, so I grabbed a bunch of my scrap strips and pulled out a few that looked good together; mostly keeping things in a warm color palette. I took out a silkscreen and some black paint to make the background stars. I don’t usually do wet media in my Daily Pages, but with the light layer of paint with the silkscreen, it dries pretty quickly.
Technique of the Day
Today I created this middle flip-out star to include a bit of journaling. I started out with a big star stamp and used a few colors for an ombre look that matched the papers. Next, I cut it out. Then, I used my score-board to get a crisp fold line down the middle. After that, I glued the right side of the star to the page, and gave myself a blank spot for journaling on the left side.
Reflections & Insights
I love making these strip pages. It’s a great way to use up all the strips of paper that I have lying around. I collect these strips when I cut a sheet of 8.5x11 paper in half for Daily Pages. It winds up being the right height (5.5”) but it’s an inch an a half larger than the width of my normal Daily Pages notebook. So, I end up with a bunch of paper strips that wind up being a great size for these strip pages.
