Behind the Page

Originally, my plan was to stamp on my gel printed paper and then cut out all the little hexagons and arrange them on the page. But, my black in was taking forever to dry, and I didn’t want to wind up with just a page full of smudges. Instead, I just kept the full sheets and used them as patterned paper. Big fan of how it turned out.

Technique of the Day

This is a fun way of creating a different type of repeating stamped pattern. All you need for this technique is colorful paper (gel print, patterned paper, magazine page, etc), a single shape stamp, and black ink. I recommend that you use StazOn permanant ink if you’re going to do this, as my Versafine ink was taking forever to dry (even with a heat gun).

Reflections & Insights

I really like this technique. I’ll definitely be replicating it again on future pages (and I also want to try it out with the StazOn ink and then precision cut them all out). Shapes are such a big part of my style, and one of the reasons I designed a shapes stamp set that you can use over and over again for different projects.
