Behind the Page

Daily Pages is my favorite place to try out new supplies. I got this stamp set in the mail from rubberstamps.com and I thought the little cacti would work really well stamped on some gel prints. I’m especially happy with the silver ink on the black gel print (the plant pots). I love how today’s page turned out.

Technique of the Day

To get started, I grabbed a few of my green and green-adjacent gel prints. I thought they felt most cacti-like. I stamped on a few of them and cut them out without being too precise. Sometimes being too precise when trimming the stamped images can result in smudgy images. This is especially true when you’re stamping on gel prints/acrylic paint.

Reflections & Insights

Ink takes longer to dry on gel prints/acrylic paint than traditional paper. Take this into consideration when you’re working with stamps and your gel prints. If you want to speed up the process, you can use StazOn ink for immediate drying, or you can use other pigment inks and a heat gun. Metallic inks take the longest to dry and smudge easily, so it’s important to let those dry before handling them.
