Daily Pages 03/13/24: Spring Flowers -- Flat Mixed Media
Gel prints + stamping -- perfect for Daily Pages
Behind the Page
I didn’t have much of a plan when I got to my desk this morning — thanks rapid weather change headaches — so I just grabbed my file folder of gel prints and flipped through until I found one I liked. The one I picked had a big blank circle in the middle and I used that space for some fun spring stamping.
Technique of the Day
In order to stamp within the rounded edges of the circle, I grabbed some scrap paper and washi tape to create my own little rounded mask to make sure that I didn’t get any of my black ink on the gel print part of the paper. Watch the video below to see what this looks like.
Reflections & Insights
I’m very much in the playing around phase of learning how to make and use gel prints. When I pulled this blank circle page last week, I figured I’d just add some more paint layers next time I gel print. But as I was flipping through my prints, I grabbed this one and saw something different.
It’s still all about learning what I like and what I don’t like — and today I realized I really like the idea of giving myself some white space so that I can use these papers to really mix different media!

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Leave blank spots in your gel prints. This was the first time that I created one like this — most of mine are layered over several times. And I love the space to add in other elements. I’m definitely going to be doing more of this in the future. I would love to add in layered die cuts and other textured items as well. I think I’ll be keeping that in mind for a Book of Me page later this year.
