Daily Pages 03/05/24: Trying Out Acrylic Paint + Clear Stamps
Daily Pages is such a great place to try out new techniques.
Behind the Page
Today I came to my desk knowing that I wanted to play around with clear stamps and acrylic paint. While I was working on my Women’s History Month Daily Pages last week, I used this floral stamp set for one of the pages — and that was when I knew I wanted to play around with the fill/background stamps and my paint. I’ve never really done this specific technique before
Technique of the Day
Stamping with acrylic paint! It’s actually so easy if you’ve got the right supplies. Most of you know I’ve been experimenting with gel prints lately, and I’ve been having a great time discovering all the little tips and tricks that go with learning a new hobby. One of the coolest things I’ve found is that the gel plates make a great “ink pad” when using acrylic paints.
Reflections & Insights
This definitely isn’t the prettiest full page I’ve ever made. But I love how the painted flowers turned out. Since it’s a technique I’ve never really tried before, Daily Pages gave me the safe space to play around with my stamps and paint — and then still have an “end result”. For me, having that finished page really helps to feel good about playing, as opposed to just open-ended creative play, which doesn’t work that well for me.
