Behind the Page

We are wrapping up our month of stickers here, and today I wanted to try something brand new. On the recording you can hear me talk about how this might wind up being a complete and total failure. Last week, I ordered some full sheets of clear sticker paper from onlinelabels.com — both glossy and matte. I got these primarily to type up some journaling on the computer and stick it in on my pages. This morning however, I thought it might be fun to take a sheet and create my own patterned paper with alcohol ink markers.

Technique of the Day

I grabbed my container of sharpies and alcohol ink markers (I’ve only got a handful — but I think I’m going to need more after this) and picked out a few different blue and green markers. I spent a few minutes coloring in the sheet with my alcohol ink markers, and then I used some sharpies to add in the accents.

I chopped it up into 1.5” squares and put them down in my notebook. I love that you can see the grid lines through the clear sticker paper. Such a fun touch.

Reflections & Insights

I need more alcohol ink markers. I’ve been having a great time playing with gel prints lately, and I think my next thing is going to be alcohol ink markers. I think they actually might make amazing mixed media pages when put together — stay tuned! Oh — if you have any alcohol ink markers that you like, let me know in the comments below. I’d love some ideas on which ones to pick up.
