Creativity is a labor of self-love
Happy Labor Day -- I'm so ready for this cooler weather.
Behind the Page
Hey friends!
It’s been a few days — I took some time off last week for a family visit, and to take care of some acute health stuff that’s been taking over a bunch of my life right now. I’ll probably have a lot more to say about it in the next few weeks, but for now, I’m just happy to be back in my (somewhat) normal routine.
I finally found this box of iridescent paints when I was cleaning up last week. I obviously put them away and then totally forgot where I had put them (typical). I wanted some cooler colors, to help represent the much cooler weather we have now.
It was over 90 last week, and now our highs are in the low 70s. The quick drop hurts my head a bit, so I’ve been chilling out as I can. But, the move into fall temperatures are making me incredibly happy.
Technique of the Day
Watching: Industry (still need to watch last night’s episode), Hard Knocks (one more episode left before the season starts!), Jane the Virgin (I’m almost finished with this one, which is great because it leaves Netflix in three days), and Arrested Development (our fall-asleep show)
Reading: A Court of Thorns and Roses
Listening: A Song of Ice and Fire (Book Three — Storm of Swords)
Making: Lots of different foods — salsas, chicken, arepas. We’ll mix it up slightly tonight and have quesadillas and a soup similar to this one for dinner.
Feeling: Fine (but also all over the place).
Planning: Our trip home next week. We’ve got a wedding to attend, neighborhoods to check out, and some time down the shore.
Loving: I’m in love with this cooler weather. So here for it.
