Behind the Page
I love today’s page. It’s one of those spreads that just makes me happy to look at. And, tbh, I wasn’t prepared to make something good today. We’ve got some more snow, so my head is not cooperating with my wants and needs today. So, I figured I’d just pull together some stuff, add the Currently list, and call it a day.
But, I really love the colors, I love the soft shapes. I love Brandi’s handwriting. One of my favorite things to do when I’m feeling overwhelmed, or having a pain day—grab supplies from a single source. Whether that’s a specific artist (like I did today with Brandi Kincaid supplies), a specific company, or theme. It makes it much more likely that your supplies will match up without you having to do any of the heavy lifting.
Everything will look like it’s supposed to go together because it was all designed by the same person/group of people.
Technique of the Day
This week’s Currently List:
Watching:
Football—Saturday football wasn’t very good, Sunday football was pretty good, I’m hoping tonight’s game is excellent.
Lost—we’ve just started the third season of Lost (got through so much of it last week while I was recovering from the hospital stuff), and it’s so interesting to watch it and see how it’s imitated in so much of today’s TV (looking at you specifically, Severance).
Cooking YouTube—98% of what I watch on YouTube is 1) Football content or 2) Cooking content. I’ve always been a sucker for food TV, especially instructional videos. Right now I’m loving the King Arthur channel, Made With Lau, and whatever Claire Saffitz is making.
Reading:
I’m deep diving into Iron Flame right now (Fourth Wing book 2), the release of Onyx Storm is in less than two weeks and I want to finish up this re-read with some notes I’ve been working on.
Listening:
I’m almost done with The Great Library series, I forgot how much I love this last book, so I’m really savoring the ending. So many great moments.
Making:
Homemade tortillas for dinner. Tried this recipe from King Arthur, and I’m a huge fan. I can see shifting these more towards corn or flour depending on what you’re filling it with.
Also lots of digital art. Instead of giving myself a word of the year, I decided that I’m going to find my illustration style. I can’t draw at all, but I can learn, so this year I’m going to learn and give myself space to be a beginner at a totally new thing.
Feeling:
Headachey.
Planning:
2025 Content—making decisions on newsletter and podcast topics.
Loving:
iPad and Apple Pencil. It’s been so nice to have that to play with when my head hurts as well. It’s a very easy couch/bed art escape.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Stick to a Single Source for Simplicity
When your energy is low or you’re feeling overwhelmed, using supplies from a single artist, company, or theme can make the creative process so much easier. Everything will naturally work together, leaving you free to focus on enjoying the process.
Pro Tip: Keep a small stash of curated, matching supplies for days when decision-making feels like too much. I like to keep my stickers together by manufacturer specifically for this reason.
