Cleaning Up and Getting Creative
I love a holiday during Daily Pages - it was a full house today :)
Behind the Page
I really needed to organize my studio a little bit this morning. It’s always a complete disaster any time I get sick. And last week I was able to get to my desk to make some stuff, but I really wasn’t in any place to declutter or put things back where they belong. So the mess piled up, and I needed to set some time aside this morning to get it back into a little bit of order.
While I was going through my gel printing supplies (the most disorganized area in my studio right now) I decided that I would use this time to pull a few gel prints that I could use for today’s Daily Page as well. I grabbed some prints that I like, and then eventually picked out one I liked best for this page.
Originally, I thought I’d use a few different prints to make my little art gallery wall — but there was enough different bits on the one page to work perfectly for this spread. Everything matches but has it’s own story.
I had some trouble with my stamping this afternoon. I completely forgot that I need to heat set the Versafine ink when I stamp on top of the gel prints. So I was just smudging all over the place. I would get the ink on my fingers, and then my fingers would touch the paper, and it was just a mess. I used a pink eraser to get some of the ink off, but it’s definitely a lot more messy than I was anticipating. Next time I stamp on paint, I need to remember to give it a blast with the heat gun before I put my hands all over it.
I added some white paint marker to the edges of the stamped frames to give them a little bit more depth. I’m probably going to try out this technique again later this week, but stamp the frames on different colored cardstock, and mat the gel print art behind them.
Technique of the Day
This week’s Currently List:
Watching:
Mythic Quest (last week’s episode was so good), Severance (I’m still annoyed that I’m watching this week to week), and The Night Agent (super easy to watch and chill).
Reading:
A bunch of new books that I downloaded from Libby but haven’t actually opened up yet—I wasn’t really in any place to read last week, but I did get lots of audiobook time in.
Listening:
The Hobbit (audiobook), Arcane (soundtrack), ACOTAR book 3 (audiobook).
Making:
Pierogis. I used this recipe from Erin Jean McDowell for the dough and they came out perfectly. We had them for lunch yesterday and I froze another dozen for us to eat in the future. I’m a huge sucker for homemade food that I can pop out of my freezer.
Feeling:
Much better. Finally. I’m still tired, but no more coughing, no more chest heaviness, no more stuffy head. It’s also been so much easier to sleep the last few days, which has made everything so much easier.
Planning:
Garden stuff—I need to clean up my front entryway area—it’s almost time to start the seeds for this upcoming season. I’m hoping to grow lots and lots of peppers. We had a great pepper season last year and I’m hoping we can do the same this year.
Loving:
My dehydrator. I’ve been having such a good time playing around with it. This weekend I dehydrated sliced strawberries, ginger, onions, and spinach. It’s such a great way to use up groceries that might otherwise just sit in the fridge.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Organizing Can Spark Creativity
Tidying up your supplies is an amazing way to jumpstart your creativity! While sorting through your gel prints (or whatever other supplies you need to organize), you’ll rediscover pieces you love and find new ways to use them in your pages.
Pro Tip: When organizing, set aside a small stash of favorite prints, scraps, or supplies so they’re easy to grab for quick creative sessions.
