What's going on around here this week:
Sundays. I love Sundays. It's my catch-up day, my football day, my family day. I love waking up on Sunday morning, excited for the slowness of the day, where my priority is in doing things well -- enjoying the process -- and not just crossing off tasks on a (seemingly endless) list.
We stay home on Sundays. It's important to us. It's our day to be together as a family in our home. We cook and clean and generally have an awesome day -- usually with a nap sometime in the afternoon.
Over the past year, writing has become more of a priority for me -- and I've started to really enjoy writing my 'around here' posts on Sunday mornings. It's nice to reflect on the previous seven days, settle everything up, and move onto a new week.
As for this week, it was a good week. A busy week, a not very interesting week, but a good week nonetheless. On Monday, J drove to South Jersey to take the GREs. It's totally on computers now, and you get your unofficial score as soon as you finish the test. Unsurprisingly, he aced the exam -- scoring higher than his ideal score on the first try. Now comes the hard part, narrowing down schools and programs, and figuring out where we're going to spend the next 6-7 years of our lives.
I feel very grateful. This is where we want to be. Not in the physical sense (I need to get out of New Jersey) but in the life sense. We are doing the things we want to do, and planning the things we want to plan, and enjoying each day. Each day. Living in the moment. It's a very calming thing and I like the way it makes me feel.
Next week is Election Day in the US -- make sure you vote, even if you just write your own name in cause all the candidates suck ;)
